This is my third child and he was welcomed into the world at 330am Aug 8th 2009…. I am pretty pleased with myself …lol and Tammy she is a wonderful mother and friend. With the three of them now will be a major adjustment. Life!!!!!

Mini-session!

Over the past few weeks I’ve been working on starting our first set of mini-sessions. The three dates for the sessions will be decided upon through interest in this special. Order dates for the prints will be set one week after the shoots. I will be doing in person proofing on all of these sessions to avoid ordering confusion.

The sessions will last approximately 30 minutes, with up to 6 people per session and you will have 10-15 final proofs to choose from. Sessions will be held at 44 homle st(Faze One Studio). Ordering appointments will be held at our office at the studio!

We are designing our new forum, we had a very nice phpbb forum set up but it was getting spammed so much so we decided to shut it down and start clean and fresh but above all simple. If you like the blog and are interested please take a tour of the new forum. It has very minimal features to help focus on the discussion rather than the bulky feeling of the old board.

Here are a few shots of the Find Your Spirit event that took up a whole block for artists to promote their art and talent. Over twenty artists and entertainers attended the event to make it another successful day. Thanks to those who put on the event and congrats to all the artists for your achievements

Waiting to go to the downtown event “find your spirit” which featured 20 plus artists and plenty of entertainment. A silent auction of paintings that are painted while the auction takes place so you get to observe the artists creating. We stopped and noticed the huge Bumble Bee’s rolling in the pollen of the flowers in the skate park. Did i say they were HUGE!, I have Proof..

Here is Indecks Skate Site, We have been working with owner Jeff Somerville since he began his awesome journey. One year later celebrating his anniversary he now has an official website. We are slowly filling it with photos and designing a team area with lots of good things. Indecks is in Brantford Ontario, 62 Brant ave : P

We love our girl, Asha is almost one and she is just as cute as the day we met her. We are working with her to learn a bit more advanced tricks, like limping is one we are working on now. She Sits, Lays, Comes, Shake Paw, High Five, Loose leash Walking “working out good but needs a few more walks to get it”. She loves working hard to learn everything we teach her. I took my camera out for a walk today and we got a few really amazing shots of the pretty girl.

Selection of 20 photoshop tutorials I liked to read and make. Follow through a few of these that catch your eye.

I’ve been using photoshop for more than 5 years now, reading through those tutorials I leaned a lot of interesting techniques and some great tools in photoshop I hope they’ll be useful for you.

Fonts are one of the essential parts of graphic design. The font that accompanies a graphic or web design helps define the feel and compliment the design.

There are a plethora of free fonts available on the internet, but many of them are lackluster or completely impractical. Today, we have 26 must-have fonts that are free to download and use in your personal designs. Make sure to read the license agreement for each font, as some are for personal use only, while others are free to use in commercial work.

Although today was a bit windy and chilly out the bands performing at the youth week event did a great job entertaining the few people that came out to support the event. I didn’t stay long to watch the bands but i watched and took a few photos of the band named Slightly Left. Here are a few photo of the band.

I just bought the palm centro and having two wild kiddies i opted to get the otterbox to help protect it from the havoc they cause, and since i still have a bit over a year on my contract I am extra cautious. Here is a really simple but amazing technique I use to convert some ogf my photos to Black and White. Since I love my Phone so much Im using it as our example photo

Our open house is going great, we have a few photos hanging on the walls as well we have some art from local artists all April when you book your session you will receive one raffle ticket to enter our awesome prizes. Ok enough about that here is an Amazing young lady that came in to model for us, We accept one model a month to help build both our portfolios… if you would like to be considered send us an email and let us know!

The draw will take place at our studio and we plan on having several paintings and a few collections from some local photographers. Some prints will be available to purchase during the open house…

It was such a gorgeous day. not much to say but, aaahhhhhhhhhhh! Finally nice weather! enjoy more photos.

We have a mass amount of toys, today was a brilliant day to get ride of some of the older broken toys and pull out some of the gems from a few years back. I found these two little creatures clinging to the bottom of one of the toy boxes. They both had missing arms so that meant cleaning a little deeper into the toy archives…lol, and i found them tucked away in the toss pile. These are amazingly detailed miniature toys that have extreme emotion. Enjoy the photos : )

Hogan came to to studio to have his portraits done and they came out super! He is an Austrailian Sheperd and is about three years old he has a very cute little son that lives with him and competes for affection. So he was brought out and treated like a star for fifteen minutes. His son Ozzy should be making a trip soon so look out for something exciting from him!

Here are two examples of product retouching, almost every photo in print has been corrected in some way or another. If you plan on retouching a photo you can preplan the setup in your head and think about what will have to be done to this if you need to retouch it while you are shooting. Being able to picture the whole process before saves time and frustration with photos that dont seem usable at the time. The second shot , I would never have thought to be a keeper but a little touch up and viola! it becomes a seller!

Creating a Great photo from a nice one is a passion of mine that I haven’t let get old.

I find that every photo in time becomes something special, it may take a while to appreciate the value or realize that your tastes have grown.

Missed the bus near Grace Church in Brantford Ontario, this has to be one of the nicest churches here. Interesting how things where gifted this way in the past. Here is a little quip from the church’s website.

“When the new church was built, land adjoining the church that had been used for a burial ground was needed. Thirty two bodies were relocated and only one remains under the church – a Mr. Richardson, father of Mrs. Henry Racey. Her husband, Henry Racey, was the founder of the Brantford Expositor newspaper. Most of the bodies were re-interred in the plot near the church, though some were moved to Greenwood Cemetery. The distinctive memorial tower, a gift of Reuben M. Leonard and family, was started in 1916 and completed in 1917. Dedicated in 1918 at the end of WW1, in thanksgiving for victory of the allied forces, the tower remains one the most impressive structures on the Brantford cityscape.”

The quality of the building is impressive, Compared to today’s structures that are prop up plywood walls, with chicken wire and Styrofoam shaped into brick and molding .

Tammy had her first ultra sound and everything seems great, here is a photo of the little peanut. Going into the second trimester the fetus is about 15 weeks. Pretty amazing how fast it all happens.

These two ladies come in on family day, which was great! whoever thought that up was the man. I was very happy the way the session turned out since we are still renovating the space and being a holiday and all. I know they will be impressed with their photos like I am. I always leave the session thinking i could have took more…lol but after about two hours most people are smiled out…[view more photos]

Tammy and I are engaged, we have been a couple for a little over six years and have two sons together the day after i proposed(feb.14) she told me we are expecting a third. Wow… I’m hoping for a girl so we can stop having babies…lol, After this if I’m not in the funny house by then I’ll be upgrading to iron boxers and burying the key..jk
I thought it was a nice surprise and a good story to start off the new site, If you seen the blog in the past it was a dark very unwelcoming layout, but now we added a few pastel colors for the ladies… I’m still working on the theme so if you have any suggestions let me know!

We finally installed the floor system, it took about five hours to do roughly 500ft. The kitchen still needs to be done but progress is being made. I was planning to clean the floor and lay the batting for the floor but, my bro and friends gave it all and we got it done, and to top it off we got treated to an awesome meal…WO_oT!

Brantford Arts Block Grand Opening featuring skateboards from local artists sponsored by Indecks Skate shop
They had a large turnout , the big wigs of the county came to support the block as well as the artists they exhibited. We had an opportunity to enter the exhibition and include a board designed by me, and we also added a few pictures. I have been working on putting my songs that i made on a CD, I started making music in 2003 and before long i had a nice collection of songs that are pretty unusual from anything I’ve heard but i love it and get put in a trance every time i listen,. Could be just because i made it…lol

Well since i am starting up the studio and trying to move to be closer to the studio, we need a fundraiser for the next big steps ahead, I will be selling the CD’s for 20 bucks min but you can give more…lol, The cd has 10 songs all by me, using only a keyboard and some cool sound “stuff”.

This summer i started skateboarding, I bought a board from our friends at INDECKS (skateboard shop) , We built a mini ramp in our backyard and everyday I skate it with my kids and freinds. Summer is almost over and the ramp maybe coming down soon and stored, I thought id post some of our epic pics we took. Create a simple refection effect with a bit of a 3d effect, I ‘ve seen this tutorial done many times but i rarely see this effect taken to the next level, also since reflections are distorted 90% of the time, they may be squeezed, bent, or swirled out of proportion , But thats a matter of taste i suppose. In this tutorial i will be adding a bit of perspective to create the illusion of 3d space, As well as shrinking the reflection for added distortion.

I’ve Been using Dreamweaver since the master collection came out, I was really reluctant aspcialy since I had golive, It seemed a bit more user friendly…Then I reformatted my computer and reinstalled everything but golive, Pure laziness kept me from reinstalling golive and the older version of photoshop that came with imageready, Witch allowed you to create slices from a image, Cutting it into small group of your image, then you have an option to grab the HTML code to use in you site . So i have learned the ropes of dreamwever..I found the you can do this with dreamweaver with a lot more simplicity, Here how to map you’re image…A more effective solution as well as it demands less from your server : ) Bonus!
